Issue:01 January – March’2011 Vol:05

Dear Friends in Christ,
We want to take this opportunity to wish you and your family a very Happy New Year. How quickly the months have passed. The scriptures exhort us to redeem the time and number our days that we may apply our hearts to wisdom.
IBTI - India Bible Training Institute
India Bible Training Institute students are gearing up for their final exams. Pray for these young men that they may do well and that the knowledge of the Word of God would be written upon their hearts as they prepare for their graduation in April.
We are really thankful to the Lord that at the beginning of 2011 we were able to renovate the Bible School Chapel Worship Hall. It now has marble flooring in the hall and on the stage. The ceiling has been redesigned with a new lighting system. We dedicated the hall on the 26th of February with a double blessing as there was also a baby dedication on the same day. This Hall is a multipurpose center where we have classes for the IBTI students during the week, the Friday School of Deliverance, Sunday evening worship to cater to the surrounding neighborhood and for workshops, seminars and special programmes, such as, the recent baby dedication. We would like to thank the many people who helped us renovate and improve the facilities of the Bible School Chapel Worship Hall.
SPARSH – Child Development Programme
It was a joy to once again have Susan Sears with us. Susan, a Registered Nurse and a graduate of Christ For The Nations is a long time friend of ours. Kay and Susan came to India in 1978 and served in South India among children. Susan was with us last year and conducted a medical clinic for the SPARSH children. She has returned to do a second clinic and evaluate the children’s health and help us upgrade the programme. We hope with her guidance and help we can do much more in the future in the area of medical camps not only among these children but also among the children of our village programmes under Stewards Trust. Safe Drinking Water Programme -Stewards Trust
One of the aims of Stewards Trust’s community development programme, in Shankergarh Block of Allahabad District, is to provide safe and clean drinking water in the villages where people are still taking dirty water from ponds or kachcha wells for their family consumption. During the summer time, because of continual decrease in ground water, wells and hand pumps go dry. Therefore, before the summer, ST starts increasing the wells’ depth (in selected wells) and also digs new wells (where there is no source of water) and maintain old wells to increase the availability of clean and safe drinking water to the target community. During the process of maintaining/renovating and also digging new wells, ST along with the help of the local community lays the brick lining on the side walls of the well, puts a 2 feet high platform around the well with a 2 ½ feet high wall surrounding the wells mouth to avoid any accident. After erecting the wall a pulley is mounted on iron angles for easy lifting of the water bucket and a tin shed on the top. For digging a new well, a person who is licensed to use dynamite is hired to blast the underneath rock to tap the source of water. Water treatment through chorine tablets or liquid solutions is also done in partnership with the village people. There is a significant decrease in water born diseases among the community through this programme which insures safe drinking water.
